Arvind Kejriwal (born August 16, 1968) is an Indian politician, and Delhi Chief Minister (CM) from Siwani, Haryana. He is the founder of the Aam Aadmi Party. His political journey started when he joined a protest with a social worker named Anna Hazare.

He is also a former bureaucrat. In February 2020 AAP won Delhi Legislative Assembly elections with a total of 62 seats. It is the third time when he got elected as the CM of Delhi. His name also got involved in many controversies with BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) and with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

After getting done with B.Tech., Arvind Kejriwal got a job in TATA steels. Later he took leave from his job and started preparing for Civil Services Examination. In the year 1995 after cracking the IRS, he got posted as the Assistant income Tax Commissioner.

In the year 2000, he took leave for further studies with an agreement that he will continue services after the leave for at least three years. But last, later this also became the subject of controversy.

The Delhi CM belongs to the Aggarwal family of Haryana. On 16 August 1968, a guy took birth in Siwani, Bhiwani district, Haryana and got named Arvind Kejriwal (age 51 years old as in 2019).

He belongs to a very well educated family. His father’s name is Gobind Ram Kejriwal who is a mechanical engineer. His mother’s name is Gita Devi. Arvind has 2 siblings, a sister, and a brother. His brother’s name is Manoj Kejriwal and his sister is Ranjana Kejriwal.

His father had to shift from places to places because of his job because of this he spent most of his life in north Indian cities like Sonipat, Hisar, and Ghaziabad.

Kejriwal attended Campus School, Hisar after which she completed his schooling from Christian missionary Holy Child School at Sonipat.

He wanted to be an engineer just like his father so he started preparing for IIT-JEE and got 563 AIR. He then got admission in IIT Kharagpur and did B.Tech.

Kejriwal is a middle-aged person. He has black eyes and black hair. The man is famous for wearing muffler in winters. Arvind mostly wears a half sleeve shirt untucked.

Arvind Kejriwal has a height of 1.65 m (5 ft 5 in) and his weight is around 65 kg (143 lbs). He has weak eyesight which is why he wears glasses. Kejriwal is a diabetic and in 2016 underwent surgery.

When he was doing his training for IRS then he happened to meet many people one of them was Sunita. Soon both of them became very good friends and in the year 1995 Arvind Kejriwal and his wife Sunita Kejriwal decided to marry each other.

From their marriage, they have two kids, a son, and a daughter. Pulkit Kejriwal is Arvind’s son and Harshita Kejriwal is his daughter. Recently Arvind shared an image in which he and his family went to voting booths to vote & his son voted for the first time.

He has also worked and protested in the favor of Jan Lokpal bill with people like Kiran Bedi and Anna Hazare. They all even went on a hunger strike after which the govt. passed Jan Lokpal Bill but Arvind and others argued that it is not formed and there are no powers given against Prime Minister.

In the year 2012 in the month of November Kejriwal and his supporters launched their party by the name AAP (Aam Aadmi Party). The name represents the party to be a common man’s party.

Further, in 2013, the party participated in elections against Sheila Dikshit. In the elections, he won 28 seats and BJP won 31 seats but with the help of members of other parties, Arvind won the election and took oath on 28 December 2013.

In the year 2015, he led a heavy campaign before elections in Delhi & he even made many promises like providing free water supplies, improvement in government schools, etc. In that year he won 67 seats out of 70 seats in Delhi and a record got created. He became the CM of Delhi for the second time.

In the year 2020 again Delhi Legislative Assembly elections in Delhi got conducted. After the voting AAP declared as the winner and CM Arvind Kejriwal scored a hat-trick victory. BJP won 8 seats whereas INC and JDU got no seat. Aam Aadmi won 62 seats out of 70 seats.

As a CM, he receives a salary of 72k INR every month. His wife is also an IRS officer. In an interview, he stated that he left his IRS job as Commissioner of Income Tax, where he could have earned crores because he wanted to serve people.
