Back in June 2002, he gained immense national attention after his daughter “Elizabeth Ann Smart” got abducted. Furthermore, his real full birth name is Edward Smart.

The incident took place when she was just 14-years-old on June 05, 2005. She was kidnapped by Brian David Mitchell and his wife Wanda Barzee at knifepoint from her bedroom.

Furthermore, the abduction lasted for nine months before she was found in Sandy, Utah. During this time, Smart was raped almost every day, forced to eat garbage, made her watch porn, tied up, and threatened to death.
