Madeleine was abducted from her bed in a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz. It is a resort located in the Algarve region of Portugal. Moreover, Kate was on a family trip along with a group of friends and their children.

The incident took place when Mrs. McCann put her daughter and sons to bed at 8:30 in their apartment. Later, the parents went for dinner in a restaurant which was 55 meters away.
