Nathan Phillips (born February 22, 1954) is a Native American Activist and War Veteran from Lincoln, Nebraska. He is famous for being the Omaha people elder, and supporter of Native American. Furthermore, the 64-year-old activist leads a yearly celebration in their honor at Arlington National Cemetery.

Phillips remained the former Director of the Native Youth Alliance. It is an organization that serves to secure that traditional culture and spiritual methods for the future generations of Native Americans.

Moreover, on January 18, 2019, videos filmed at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC, USA. The video showed that Nathan harassed by a group of 50 to 60 high school boys.

The students were attending the annual March for Life. They were from Covington Catholic High School (CovCath), who traveled from Kentucky to visit the anti-abortion March for Life. In addition, Philips walked towards them and began to chant the AIM Song (a traditional Native American inter-tribal powwow song).

Later, a black-haired student (junior at Covington Catholic High School) stood inches away from Philipps’ face. In fact, other students did “Tomahawk chops” and danced. They also wore red “Make America Great Again” caps in order to taunt Nathan.

Shortly after the video went viral, CovCath’s communications director released a statement. He/She regretted that the incident took place. Later, on January 19, 2019, the black-haired student released a statement stating that the students were confronted by 4 members of the Black Hebrew Israelite movement.

He also said that Phillips tried to provoke them. They never sang “build the wall” or used any racist language or gestures according to him. However, Phillips told that he heard them saying “Build that wall! Build that wall!”.

The activist also said that he was trying to defuse a dispute between the group of students and a small group of Black Hebrew Israelites.
