Tapas Paul (born 29 September 1958) was a famous Indian actor and producer from Chandannagar, West Bengal. He was one of the top actors in the Bengali film industry. Paul had made more than 70 Bengali movies.

He debuts in the acting filed with his first film named “Dadar Kirti” in the year 1980. But he got fame with his movie “Guru Dakshina” in 1987. Tapas was also honored with Kalakar Awards and Bharat Nirman Awards for his talent.

Death Cause

Renowned artist Tapas Pal died in a hospital near Juhu at 4 in the morning of 18 February 2020. During an interrogation of his family, it was found that he had come to Mumbai to visit his daughter.

He was on his way back to Kolkata on the night of 17 February, when he suddenly suffered a rapid pain in his heart and fell at the airport. His family took him to the hospital and during treatment, Paul died at 4 am the next day. He was 61 when he died. The death cause of Tapas Paul was a cardiac attack.

The famous actor came to this world on Monday, September 29, 1958, in Chandannagar, West Bengal. His father “Late Dr. Gajendra Chandrapal” was worked in the Bengali film industry.

His mom “Smt. Mira Pal” was a homemaker.  There is no much information is available about his siblings in the family. Moreover, he does not mention his sibling’s profile to the media.

He completed his education from a local high school in Chandannagar. After that, he took admission to the Hooghly Mohsin College and did his graduation in the field of Bio-Science. Tapas completed his education under the Burdwan University. He was interested in acting from childhood.

Pal lived a very normal life. He got married to his wife named “Nandini Paul” Nandini is also a Bengali actress, who worked in so many films and TV shows. She is the contestant of Bigg Boss Bangla. The couple lived a happy married life.

Tapas Paul has a daughter named “Sohini Paul”. Her daughter is also a successful actress, who works in Tollywood. In addition, he loved spending his time with family. He was suffering from heart disease for a long time. His family members said that Tapas used to go to the hospital 2-3 times a month for his checkup.

Paul started his acting career in the year 1980. He got a chance to work in his first Bengali film named “Dadar Kirti”. After giving his best performance in his first movie, he became the first choice of every director.

After that, the famous director “Tarun Majumdar” cast him in his film named “Bhalobasa Bhalobasa” in 1985. It was his second film. In 2020, Tapas Paul earned the Net worth of Rs 15 crore Indian Rupees.

After that, he appeared in so many movies like Surer Bhubaney, Abishkar, Nishantey, Tumi Je Aamar, Jar Je Priya, Khiladi, etc. But Tapas Paul rose in fame with his movie named “Guru Dakshina” in 1987. Apart from an actor Tapas also worked as a politician. He was in the party of All India Trinamool Congress. He also held the position of MLA of Alipore twice from 2001 to 2006 and 2006 to 2009.

Tapas Paul also served the 10-year service of MP of Krishnanagar from 2009 to 2019.
